I am Published!
I don't think I have mentioned it here, but I am finally a published WRITER!!
I published 2 cookbooks so far on Amazon Kindle. They are my Grammy's Grub series.
I will also be publishing another series of books for young adults to help with "Problems with adulting" as my daughter says. LOL She feels it would be a great idea to put books out there for young adults to help with things like searching for an apartment, how to secure utilities, and how to deal with money matters. I agree. these things are not taught in schools and also not taught by a lot of parents.
I will let you know how my progress is going and I will post here whenever I get a new book published.. I hope you enjoy them if you decide to purchase them. please leave a review if you do. It helps me to know what you like.
And as always Thank you for your views and likes. share my page and my videos. Untill next time!

Delicious Fried Chicken and Corn Chowder
I had an idea for a recipe today. I created it and here it is!
I tried to upload pictures but I keep getting Errors.. so I'll upload them later.
What you need:
1 LB skinless boneless chicken cubed
6 slices of bacon diced and fried crispy and drained(save the grease)
4 scallions diced
3 medium red potatoes diced
1 bag of frozen corn or any kind of corn you like1 carton of Swanson cream starter
1 carton of Swanson cream starter
2 T butter
seasoned flour for frying chicken
1 cup chicken stock (or veggie stock)
HOW TO DO IT
1. In a pan fry bacon crispy and remove from oil onto a paper plate to drain. Reserve the bacon grease and add a bit of cooking oil to make enough to fry the chicken cubes in.
2. Dredge the chicken in the flour and fry till golden brown. Drain on a paper plate or paper towels.
3. In a large high sided pan or stock pot, put the butter in and melt. Once melted add the potatoes and scallions. Gently saute together for 2 minutes then add the stock and lid the pan. Steam the potatoes till fork tender.
4. Add the corn and heat thoroughly.
5. After the corn is heated there should be liquid in the bottom of the pan. If not add about 1/2 to 3/4 cup more chicken broth and let it heat. Then add the entire box of Swanson cream starter. salt and pepper to taste. the taste should resemble peppered gravy.
6. Add in the bacon bits and chicken and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Serve with biscuits.
Oh man this was tasty.. it is indeed a chowder that will stick to your ribs. Even my hubby loved it and he isn't even a soup fan. I hope you enjoy this recipe.

a letter to myself..
MY AFFIRMATION
This is my personal script for getting my business going. I
AM a writer and I WILL be successful at doing what I love.
The reason I am doing this is because I love to stretch my
imagination and capture someone’s attention with my words. I love the way words
can create emotion and paint a mental picture. I have always wanted to be my
own boss and live by my own schedule and now at 46 years of age and with the
help of my loving supportive husband I am going to do it.
Words and writing have always been a passion for me.
Unfortunately for me I have put everyone first. By everyone I do mean everyone,
kids, family and friends, job’s needs all before my own. It is time to find out
who Wendy is and what she wants.
I am a strong intelligent gifted individual who deserves to
be happy in all aspects of life. I am my own person and the people that I bring
to my friend and family circle are all hand picked. In some way they fit into
the puzzle of my life and create a harmonious bubble.
I will be successful because I believe in myself. I will not
allow rejection and criticism tear down my self esteem. I will use this
information to learn and improve my skills. Everyone has an opinion and no one
is perfect. I am good enough to accomplish this goal for myself. I will be self
employed and successful.
I will find smaller jobs to take on while I am honing my
skills to better prepare myself to take on the bigger jobs and thus my own
manuscript. The more I write the better I will become because, I am good enough
to make it in this market. No job is beneath me. No job is above me. I am
adaptable and will make every effort to satisfy the client to the fullest
extent of my ability.
I will learn the things that make my life easier and
incorporate these things daily. I will improve the things I already know and
strive to learn something new everyday to improve me as a person and as a
writer. I will be efficient with my time and I will be organized.
I will not allow myself become complacent and lazy when
success starts to become apparent and recognizable. I will be firm with my
family and friends when I am completely self-employed in that I won’t allow
them to be a hindrance or to usurp my time. Being self-employed is a real
job. My home is my office and the work is very real.
I will set reasonable daily goals for myself that are
reasonably attainable. I will challenge myself. I will not be disillusioned
into thinking this will all happen overnight. I am a clear thinker and I know
that success doesn’t happen overnight. Success takes hard work and
perseverance. I will dedicate as much time and energy into creating a
successful as is necessary. Half the battle is already won because I am
affirming to myself in this letter all that I am and all that I will accomplish.
My philosophy for the day
· I would rather have less and OWN everything I have than have a lot and OWE everything I have. ~me~

Long ominous pause...
Well I am back!
Hey guys, miss me?? Let me tell you, I for one am THANKFUL that 2014 is over.. HOLY, COW!! what a weird year.
The year started out with a disintegration of my job of over eight years. they put me down to 30 hours during the holidays. They told me it was only temporary. (Yeah Right!) THEN after the holiday they decided to make me part time at my office so now I was down another fourth of my pay for a grand total of half my pay gone. (In hind sight a blessing I foolishly didn't take advantage of at the time to get a freelance career going)
All that time off did give me time to get into my soaping hobby that I loved and I did get the opportunity to put my products in a local boutique that was starting up. My bestie and my youngest daughter and I put our wares in there in hopes to make a little side business for ourselves to make some extra money. Little did I know it was going to be so cliquey that I would later end up pulling out. Which I inevitably did in October.
During that time at the beginning of the year They decided to close the branch office. I was made oaware of that little fact on Valentines day just after my husband also lost his job of over 8 years due to a technicality. Regardless, we went on a nice sushi valentines day dinner to try to have some normal. He kept on about how at least I still had my job. I finally burst into tears and told him they were closing my office and that I was trying to wait till the next day so as not to ruin our valentines dinner.
He laughed and then I laughed because what else are you gonna do right? he said "what a pair we are Huh?" and hugged me and said somehow it would be alright. And it was. he got a great job at Orkin, which he loved and was doing well at. I finally got a job with an interior decorator for a lot less money but the hope that I could still make it with the side business.
Things leveled out for a while and my husband became the top seller very quickly. I learned everything I needed to know about my job and eventually got that so streamlined that I was not as busy as I liked at work but smartly kept quiet about it so I could keep as many hours as I could since she was fond of sending people home early if she felt they were being too idle.
I failed to mention that our middle child ended up moving her and her animals back into the house for a few months. That was stressful because our lifestyles clash and she was never home to take care of her animals thus laying the burden on her father and I. I won't go into a lot of detail here but it is safe to say she and I agree a hive cannot have two queens. She now has her own hive and we are both happy.
During the late part of spring just as we felt like everything was going well I get a call from my father who made me aware that they found a spot in mom's lungs. Now she had COPD for a while and we got her to switch from cigarettes to the vapor which helped her awful cough. I knew she would always have the COPD and that it would get worse as she got older but the news that would follow was devastating for me.
Dad called again a few weeks later after some tests were run and told me they are pretty sure it is cancer but not sure which kind. I cried. my guts knew what was to follow. I tried to be brave and put up a good face for everyone. My heart was so broken. I knew I was going to lose my mom and tho I was hopeful that a miracle would happen for her and my dad.
Graduation was coming so we focused on that. It kept my mind occupied. I kept vlogging as best I could but even that was less and less. I felt that my sorrow was too apparent in the vlog.
Dad called again before graduation and told me the bad news. Mom had small cell cancer but it was localized to one spot and hadn't spread. So there was a string of hope. A small string but for mom's sake and our own we clung to that string and prayed.
She did get to come to Erin's graduation for which we were all thankful. She was still able to get around fairly well but couldn't walk for long distances so she was in a wheel chair when we went out anywhere. But she still did her best to be as normal as possible. I could tell she was getting tired more than normal. I tried my best not to show my worry on my face.
I started calling her weekly after that. I think it may have annoyed her a bit. I couldn't help it tho. I was worried and I knew how she liked to make everything out to be less of a deal than it really was. My husband was such a trooper through all of this. I don't think he knows how thankful I am for his support.
During all of this, my job again was in jeopardy as the business owner I was working for was threatening to close her doors. Not wishing to have 2 boats sink from under me in a year I sought out work closer to home and found a job with a loan company a mile and a half from my home making 2 dollars more an hour than I was making.
Great news!! Right?? Sort of. While I was making more money, which allowed me to catch up from the loss I took at the prevous job (which for the record I really did like) the conditions in which I was to do my job were and continue to be the most ass backwards and stressful ones I have ever worked in. We have to make calls to debtors everyday. now I don't mean a few calls to different bunches of people everyday I mean calling hundreds of people everyday twice a day the SAME LIST! The first of which has to be done before anyone can go to lunch AND we have to still keep up with walkins who want to pay bills and/ or get a new loan.
I am SO very unhappy at this job however since the new GM has taken over things have been a bit better. I am thankful that she took over considering the things we were having to deal with in regards to mom. My hubby was being very supportive and encouraging towards me through all of this even though his job was becoming less than satisfactory now that they had a new admin that was costing him money by not doing his job.
Mid July we had a wonderful little blessing. My granddaughter Aurora Bell was born to my wonderful son and his beautiful wife. Things were going fairly well for the whole family. Stephen and his new little family were happy. our oldest daughter had attained her own new home with her bestie and was happier now as well. our youngest had graduated and was on her way to college. Mom was getting better.
Aside from our jobs being a pain in our asses again all seemed to be going along fairly well. I had been calling mom and dad to get updates on her progress with the intense treatments her doc was giving her. She was doing so well with it all with exception of her legs beginning to hurt her which the doc said was probably due to her treatment and not moving enough. She was having weakness and pain in her legs and arms.and had to be pushed in a wheelchair a lot more and helped to the bathroom.
I got another call she beat the cancer. It was gone completely but little did we know the treatments took their toll on her already deficient lungs as well as the cause of her atrophied muscles. She had COPD (before the cancer) and was on oxygen and with all the harsh chemo and radiation they bombarded her body with to get rid of the cancer, her lungs started to harden and her muscles were withering.
She had uncontrollable cramping and pain in her legs that send her to the hospital a few times where she ended up having respiratory failure. They would get her stabilized with breathing treatments and meds. Dad would call me and let me know what was going on.
By Thanksgiving she was on a CPAP permanently to breathe. Chris and I decided it would be best to make a trip to see her knowing in our hearts that this was probably the last time we would get to see her and secretly hoping we were wrong and that she would pull through. Erin went too but Bre couldn't take that much time off work. Stephen and his family were not financially able to go either. We left at night and I did all the driving. It was the only way to keep my mind off things. Also because I am somewhat of a control freak, a trait I believe I got from mom.
Mom was a tough old bird and she was very "spicy" as I like to call it when people are being feisty. Chris told dad that if anyone could fight through this she could. That made dad smile. Dad hadn't gotten to smile much the past few months. I could tell how grateful he was we were there. His tired eyes told the story of his journey the past few months. I watched him sleep and I could tell he was sleeping like he had been awake for days.
We had a good Thanksgiving day dinner with dad at Cracker Barrel where mom had worked. She told dad to take us there so who were we to disobey. LOL. We went to the hospital to see her and I told her that we had gone there and it was wonderful and what a good job the staff did. she smiled.
We went to the hospital and saw mom every day we were there. Seeing her on that machine was hard. It was forcing air into her lungs. She smiled at us from under her mask every time we showed up and hugged us so tight when we had to leave. We even Skyped with Stephen and his family so she could see him, her boy, and his family and the great grand children. I could tell it meant so much to her to see us all even tho she didn't get to see Bre. I assured her that she was fine and happy. She just wanted to see us all to make sure we were all happy and well. We were all grateful for that visit.
Dad is eternally grateful for the visit. You see he had been dealing with all of this himself for months. He was glad to see us and hug us and just have someone to talk with about anything but what was going on. Tho I did have a lot of questions that we talked about together when everyone else was asleep.
I took us all to the Memphis zoo while we were there. Dad seemed to enjoy the mental break and kept up really well on his new hips. He had them replaced a couple years ago before mom got sick. I think
Unfortunately we were right but thankfully we did get to see her when she could still interact with us. We had a good visit although I wish I could have stayed longer.
She lasted another week after that. It was almost like she was waiting to see that we were all okay before she was ready to let go. She and dad discussed it and she decided to let nature take it's course and get off the CPAP. she passed away in the middle of the night on December 8th around 2 am.
Dad called me the next day to let me know. I kind of already knew. I am very sad that she had to go but I am glad she isn't suffering any more. Dad is handling everything like a champ. I am sure he has his moments. All in all he is doing really well learning how to be just dad.
I am so glad 2014 is over. I am happy for the blessings. I am thankful it is 2015.

My new Journey
Hello Guys!
I am finally blogging again.. I have been busy yet again. Doing what you ask? Well, let me tell ya, Since I have last blogged (or vlogged for that matter) I have been in the most incredible funk yet. Depression almost had me because of the negativity that was in my house. Thankfully after much toil and tears the middle child has once again moved out. and taken all her worldly possessions with her including and not regretfully her animals.
There is nothing like living with your adult children I can assure you. holy cow. Especially if one of the parents is not on the same page with you about how to deal with said child. Well let's not dwell on that too long. Lets just say that it is better that she live in her own home due to the fact that our lifestyles do not on any level mesh. Nuff said.
Then there is this job I settled for. I flew out of the frying pan into the fryer on that one. I am still there in body but only because I get some modicum of paycheck but not truly enough to pay the bills and buy food. The boss continuously sends us home early and has me off on Mondays which is not entirely a bad thing since now I can at least look for something more substantial. Also, I can try to do what I was trying to do before which was get my freelance gig going.
I have over 2 months of vlogs to edit and post because in my depression have been busy controlling the 1 thing I can control which is cleaning the house. My go to obsession when things are going particularly crappy.
So that about brings us up to the present. I have been trying to get the baby child ready for college. I have been letting her do most of it herself because she needs to learn to do things like this herself. but as always I am there for her if she needs it and at least she recognizes when she is floundering and will ask (reluctantly) for help.
Then there is the man child, my oldest. He is now a father. :D Which in turn officially makes me a grammy! I am eternally grateful and happy for he and his lovely wife for this. Even tho they live 20 hours away and I am too broke to go see the baby. I keep praying for a miracle of some sort to make the money flow to allow me the ability to make the trip. Also to allow me the career to provide me the time to make the trip.
Which brings us to the present. I am now finally in a good place to start the endeavor once again only thins time with the back up financial aspect of having a traditional job to lean on so I don't scuttle the boat. In addition to getting my freelance gig going I am also working on self improvement by way of the 21 day fix. it has been successful so far. (lost 6 pounds so far) easy peasy to follow tho the last couple days have been a partial bust. I am positive and have my family behind me on this.
it is my goal to have lost most of the 20 pounds I have gained over the last 5 years gone by Christmas. We shall see how it goes..
Love you guys!
The boss continuously sends us home early and has me off on Mondays which is not entirely a bad thing since now I can at least look for something more substantial. my new "real job"
Hi guys!
It is crazy old me again! I have missed you all greatly. You wouldn't believe how busy and dramatically hectic things have been(unless you watch my Vlog on YouTube that is ).
Well let's see how short I can make this story. the last thing I told you about here was the end of my last job. Well I have another job now full(ish) time, wonderful lady that owns an interior design business. I do her book keeping. I have had to acquire a new skill, quick books, which took all of 3 days to master, tho I still ask the accountant before I do anything that might make a boo boo.
To go all the way back to the end of an era, My hubby consequently lost his job about a month before I lost mine. I lost mine on Valentines day. I had to tell him but I didn't want to ruin Vday dinner so I had decided to wait. He took me to a wonderful sushi dinner and was going on about losing his job and how at least I still had mine and all that jazz so I finally said " I have something to tell you about that and I just want you to hear what I tell you and we won't mention it again tonight because I want to have a good date." he got real quiet. Without looking at him directly, because I had tears in my eyes, I said " They are closing my office and I really don't want to talk about it and it happens in a month."
After a short pause he laughs. I look at him like he is nuts for doing so and then I laugh too. he says to me " boy aren't we a pair. " so we've got an odd sense of humor, what can I say. He hugged me and said it would all be fine.
I looked and looked for work, went on unemployment, and many many resume`s later my friend mentioned to me that Miss Shirley was losing her bookkeeper and said i should send her my resume`. I did and of course as things usually go ALL the things happened at once. she wanted to see me on a Saturday but I was doing a yard sale with Janis and her boyfriend that weekend. So I reschedules and saw her Monday instead.
I had also been working with a temp agency to get something as well. That turned out to be an epic fail. I went on a working interview with an insurance agency that was a whole day of OH MY GOD boring. That was 8 hours of my life I can't get back. Not to mention that it was one of those environments that made you feel instantly unwelcome. eeep!
The next day I did a working interview with Miss Shirley and her current book keeper that was leaving and it was awesome! I felt instantly comfortable there. the software was so easy and Denise was such a sweetie. She suggested taht I come back the next day to meet with the accountant to see if we could work together.
So I came back the next day a little later and worked again and all went well so Miss Shirley said well tomorrow is the first day of the pay week so you might as well start tomorrow! WOOT! everything had been smooth sailing so far. only a few little glitches but all is well. we are all getting along and I couldn't be happier unless I could have my pay and schedule from the old job at this job.
I do wish I had more time for the thinks I love, my family, my business, my personal me time and my friend Janis. but all in all at least I am not worrying over money any more. and I do still try to fit those things in when I can. and with any luck I will be able to finagle that schedule again and my "hobbies" ie my business will take off and will be my supplemental income and I can cut back on the "real job".

The End of an Era
End of an Era
Well this is the first week of being unemployed. Let me tell
you my story of the last 18 months that lead up to this point.
As most stories start out, well you see what had happened
was, we lost our manager in my office. He apparently went out with back trouble
(or so we were told) and consequently after a couple weeks he was let go for non-compliance
of being out on medical reasons.
So an agent was forcibly promoted to manager even though he
didn’t want it. He told me he would quit if they forced him to be manger. Well
he was forced into it and after taking a lot of BS from the upper management
for over a year, he did finally quit. I found his method of quitting rather
humorous. He went on vacation to get married in Hawaii and never came back.
I knew this was going to happen. I even warned the upper
management that they would lose this individual altogether if they forced him
into management. Upper management told me, that he would be happy to take the
position after the deal he would be offered and they promised all the bells and
whistles and help he would possibly need.
Yeah right, that never happened. Management came down
exactly twice. Once to congratulate him on accepting his new promotion, the second
was to tell him that if he did not tighten up and make his staff succeed he
would be fired. We lost quite a few good agents during the reign of this
particular upper manager.
Just as I figured though I had hopes they would prove me
wrong for a change but alas, upper management failed to prove me wrong yet
again. Not only did we lose a wonderful member of our office but we lost the
last two. Eventually our last Mohican left as well. She tried to stay. She wanted
to be successful but upper management failed her by never coming to help or
manage her.
I advised her to find another opportunity and jump off this
failing ship. She reluctantly did eventually, not that I wanted her gone of
course but, I wanted to see her happy again. She had lost her spark. She went
from a bubbly young woman full of hope and wanting to help to being a teary-eyed
mess who had lost her self-esteem, at least where work was concerned.
Finally, after much coaxing and reassurance from me she did
seek other options and left. She is much happier now. Back to herself, I’d
wager. Some of us still keep in touch even if it is just a random text message
or face book like.
By the end of that year, which was exactly Christmas time
2012, I got a phone call that my office would be cutting down hours temporarily
and I would be working only 30 hours a week. Well of course, this upset me. I squawked
over this for a week or so and kept being reassured that this was only
temporary till the upper management got off his butt and hired a manager and
agent for this office.
Well after three months of that not happening, I get another
call. They took another 10 hours a week away from me and I had to work every
other day so Monday Wednesday and Friday I had to make the trek across the
bridge to sit in this little grey office all alone. For the next 18 months I
did just that.
Once a week for the first while I asked if the upper
management had anyone coming to interview and was always given an excuse. I finally
changed the question to, when were they closing my office, and got the expected
lie. This is only temporary. Though I have been looking for jobs all those 18
months, I haven’t had the good fortune to find one yet. I keep trying.
I am glad that all of those who I now miss are happy and I
wish each and every one of them well. I, however, managed to stay till the very
end. Like a Capitan who sinks with his ship. What did upper management do? He came
to procure his purchase of a mini fridge and scavenge the sinking ship and
leave, no good bye lunch nothing. Just a feeble apology. “I feel like I failed
you.” He said trying to look sheepish.
I just looked at him deadpan and said “it is what it is.” and
nothing else.
My boss came for the last day, though I had already done
everything and taken all the donations to the donating place and the money to
the bank. There was literally nothing left to do. She at least brought me a
parting gift of an Ivanna Trump handbag in the prettiest ivory faux leather and
a copy of Someone has to set a bad example by Anne Taintor, and she took me to
Olive Garden, my favorite restaurant.
Well one of them anyway. We had a wonderful day of conversation. She is
really a wonderful person. I will miss working for her. I hope she gets better
treatment in the end than I did.
